A Little About Me

I’m a woman currently living in Houston TX USA, born in 1980. I have also lived all over Indiana, in Chicago (and the Chicago suburbs), Los Angeles, and Philadelphia before moving to Houston.

My favorite sports include: running, cycling, swimming, golf, hiking, team sports (especially soccer). I’ll play almost any and every sport in a pick-up game though.

I currently hold a ‘National D Coaching License’ for soccer. I’m a goalkeeper by training, but also play center midfield.

My other favorite activities include: Boxing [Fitness], Rowing, (Team sports: Soccer, Football), Lifting weights.

Things I’m looking into: triathlons, pilates, getting back into rock climbing, getting certified as a personal trainer, maybe getting a degree in nutrition, getting my next level of soccer coaching certification (National C License), … and whatever other random activity catches my eye next.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice on trying to balance my life! Here is the crazy part: My girlfriend is running the marathon too, and the whole reason I am running it to support her. She got me into running, and well, I got her into climbing.

It gets tricky because she is a medical student and I work 2nd shift. With any luck we will be able to spend more time together, and right now a lot of out time together is spent running. Sometimes I will do a long run and pick her up midway through.

I just built her a single speed bike, so we may get to bike more too.

I think that I am going to have to admit that it’s hard, it won’t get easier anytime soon and make the best of it.

Thanks again for the advice!

You have some great goals ahead of you to accomplish. Good luck on all of them. You have no limits so keep pushing ahead! Thanks for the comment on page on my latest workout. I have been having a hard time dealing with the fact that I am not anywhere close to the times and shape that I was in when I ran in college. But I am accepting it all and realizing I just have new goals and will fight to get into shape like I was before. I am running the Chicago marathon! As for what kind of sport you should pick up just try a few out and see which one challenges you more and that you really enjoy! Good luck in all you do.

Thank you for the friend invite. You have a pretty nice list of races! I have thought about doing or training a group for the Houston Marathon next year. My family lives in the Houston area and I’ve thought it would be a cool do that race.

Especially because I think it is a fast course? Well, Ryan Hall set the half marathon American record there… which doesn’t mean it is fast for everyone.

Look forward to see how your journey goes. Don’t be afraid if you have any questions, especially as you make your venture into the fitness field.
